Artist Biography

Solomon Alcain Jr., a native of Hawaii, has lived and worked in Alaska since 1979. A multi-talented individual with broad experience in computer technology, digital photography and video production, has found his true passion in music.

"For over twenty-five years I have used the winter months indoors experimenting with different sounds and tones. I believe that music, being the basis of all invisible wave forms, can be a soothing experience. I compose music specifically for that reason, to sooth the inner soul, the invisible form that lives in each one of us."

Through the advanced technology of sound synthesis and wave form editing, Alcain arranges sounds as a more traditional artist would arrange colors of paint to be cast upon a blank canvas. Through this process he has achieved sound wave art. Using sounds to paint images and invoke feelings of calmness, serenity and peace while invigorating and energizing the soul.

"Several people have described my music as New Age, Techno or in a genre all its own. My sounds, arrangements and final compositions are just thought up and recorded. Some are inspired by movies and songs, others are conjured during driving or reading a book. Music has always been a part of my life. From early childhood I can remember tuning in to Casey Kasum and the American Top Forty. I'm sure every musician has the dream of hearing their song or voice in the number one slot. I really liked it when they would play the drum roll just before the number one song. That's where I always wanted to be. But today there is a different stage for music, and so many different kinds of music. I hope to find my place in the hearts of listeners and on the radio airwaves of the night."
